The difference between working with/for good people vs bad bosses

The Scene: It’s an office space. A visitor has been in with one of the Principle people in the office since 1:00pm, it is now 2:45. The visitors next meeting is at 3:00. The only Administrative person sits quietly working at her desk.

Bad People version:

Visitor to Administrative person (AP from now on): Do you have a computer workstation I can use or password for the wireless network that I can use for the next few minutes.

AP: Sure, JC is in the back, he will be happy to give you a password.

Visitor goes to back and connects to internet.

In the meantime, the Principle Person (PP1) he just met with comes out of his office, goes to the back and offers to get the Visitor a coffee. PP1 comes to front and makes AP feel stupid for not offering coffee to the Visitor. Then insists AP goes to get coffee for both PP1 and the visitor.

Good People Version:

Visitor to Administrative person (AP from now on): Do you have a computer workstation I can use or password for the wireless network that I can use for the next few minutes.

AP: Sure, JC is in the back, he will be happy to give you a password.

Visitor goes to back and connects to internet.

In the meantime, the Principle Person (PP1) he just met with comes out of his office, goes to the back and offers to get the Visitor a coffee. PP1 comes to front and as he walks by offers to get AP a coffee or muffin. AP is relieved, in the past bad bosses would have made her feel bad for not getting the coffee.
